Noujoum Ouazza is born in Casablanca (Morocco). His mother is Berber and father Sahraoui. Even he grew up and lived in a big town, he always felt some attraction for the desert. After few searches he discovered that the desert was the country of his ancestors, the Nomads. He built up his first guitar when he was 9 with an oil can and a broomstick. At 13 he went to musical school “ALHAY AL MOHAMMEDIE” with help of his mother who worked like domestic. After this, his mother sent him to Musical Academy of Casablanca but he couldn’t register because of administrative trouble. His father deserted them when he was young and just let a hanged accordion on the wall like memory. Two years after he finally could study in an academy specialised in Andalusia music and at 16 he formed his first musical band. They started to play in wedding ceremony and in some local celebrations. This gave to him opportunity to rent a bango. He was so excited that he couldn’t sleep without it nearby. During all teenage years he met lot of people who helped and encouraged him to continue on this artistic way: professors Ajarfawi and Abderrahim alias “Sono”, Askhour Mustapha, Kebrite Bouchaib, Zohair, Nourreddin… In 1976 he recorded first tape with Lassiahe and in 1978 with Amarat Fes. His career really began with the most famous Moroccan band, Lem Chaheb. He met few members of this band because of his mum who worked in house of one of them, the famous Larbi Bata. Noujoum Ouazza stayed 10 years with them, traveling all over Marocco and in England. What a piece of luck when he met Abdesalam Akaaboune from Tanger. This man knew lot of artists and people form this musical world. Jimi Hendrix or the Rolling Stones stayed in Abdeselam’s house when they were in Morocco. There too he met Dissidenten (Ex-musicians of, a german band who is really imprested by his way of playing. They invited Noujoum Ouazza to play with them in Madrid to record their album “Out of the world”. This relation still exists today after many concerts all over the world and records of 6 CDs. He continues to play here in Belgium with bands like “Panache Culture” and “Argane”. Noujoum Ouazza works now on his first album in solo with help of the producer Hammond Schneider, the bass player of Dissidenten Uve Mullrich. All these musicians believe in him and help him with their long experiences. His music is inspired by wonder of nature like by his experience of human nature.
